Most of us won’t retire the same way our grandparents did. We’re living longer and working for longer too. Whether you’re after a slow transition or a ‘gone fishing’ approach, Active Super can help with a range of products to help you retire on your terms.
retire with active super
When can I access my super?
- 65 years or over, whether you keep working or not
- 60 or over and change employers or stop working (temporarily or permanently)
- Under 60 and have permanently stopped working, and you’ve reached your ‘preservation’ age (the age your super is preserved to before you can withdraw it). This depends on when you were born:
Enter your date of birth to find out when you will qualify:
Date of birth | Preservation age |
---|---|
After July 1964 | 60 |
1 July 1963 - 30 June 1964 | 59 |
Before 30 June 1963 | Reached |
- In special circumstances, like financial hardship or compassionate grounds, you may be able to access your super sooner. Visit the ATO website to learn more.
Why does preservation age differ? People are living longer in retirement. So, the Government is gradually increasing the preservation age from age 55 to 60, to help Australians grow larger super balances so they can retire with more money.
